Lighting the Fire, Call for Proposals 2012

This year’s conference will be accepting applications for workshop that are practice based,

First Nations educational practices are informed by our cultures both past and present, current best practices in the fields of education and child advocacy, and our own professional research, reflections and growth. All partners in education are committed to creating extraordinary learning opportunities for our students, by sharing professional experiences, insights and support with one another. In this way, we have built a substantial community of practice in the province of Manitoba; a professional community with First Nations’ perspectives.

Professional learning communities emerge from our social and communal commitments as educators, and they require creativity, cooperation and a collective effort. Our commitment is to provide a quality education for our children that is practical and responsive to today’s ever changing work force. Through the collaboration of our partners in education, working together as a professional learning community, we can meet our responsibilities and honour our commitments with resourcefulness and inspiration.
