The senior winner is Martin Kematch, a grade 12 student at Chemawawin School, Chemawawin Cree Nation. Congratulations Martin! The junior winner is Amy Blacksmith, a grade 9 student at Otter-Nelson River School, Cross Lake First Nation. Congratulations Amy! These students will be contacted soon to make arrangements for their trips to Winnipeg to participate in the annual Lighting the Fire education conference.
The second place winner for the senior category is Rae-Ann Robinson, a grade 12 student at Otter-Nelson River School, Cross Lake First Nation. Congratulations Rae-Ann! The second place winner for the junior category is Kiya Spence, a grade 9 student at Nisichawayasihk Neyo Ohtinwak Collegiate, Nisichawayasihk Cree Nation (Nelson House). Congratulations Kiya! The second place winners each receive a cash prize of $200.
The LTF Conference Committee thanks each student who submitted an essay to the contest. Over the next few weeks, look for a certificate that will be arriving in the school mail. The Committee also thanks those teachers who participated with their students for their excellent instruction. Great job everyone!
