Annie Boulanger has been with MFNERC for over a year now teaching Ojibwe language courses through Wapaskwa Virtual Collegiate. She has also taught Ojibwe for many years through the University of Winnipeg and Red River College. Recently, Annie was honoured with a blanket ceremony at the University of Winnipeg for her dedication to First Nations language revitalization. The ceremony was held January 23, 2019, and community members, Elders, and students gathered together to feast and honour Annie Boulanger and Ida Bear’s work. The United Nations has declared 2019 as the International Year of Indigenous Languages. It is a beautiful time to celebrate our teachers, speakers, learners, and leaders in First Nations language studies. We at MFNERC extend our congratulations to Annie, and a big Chi-Miigwetch for all you do, with not only our organization but for the community as a whole.
