Sharon has a shared responsibility for the management of the northern office. She is primarily responsible for engaging with northern First Nations and will liaising, communicating and collaborating with all departments within MFNERC to ensure the needs and aspirations of the northern First Nations are reflected in the implementation of MFNERC vision, mission, goals, and the objectives identified in the Transition Plan.
Sharon is a member of Opaskwayak Cree Nation and grew up in the north. Sharon worked for the Keewatin Tribal Council (KTC) in Thompson Manitoba from 1985 – 2015. During her tenure at KTC, Sharon worked in the Education Unit as PHP Counsellor, Superintendent of Student Services, and Director of Education. In her last eleven years at KTC, she served as the Chief Executive Officer for the eleven First Nation communities.
Sharon’s experience in First Nations education and her commitment to improving access to services and opportunities for First Nations students, staff and communities will be an asset to MFNERC. Welcome Sharon.
