First Nations Language and Culture Cree Facilitator, Charity Cooper reviews the sounds of the Standard Roman Orthography (SRO) vertically and horizontally. She highly recommends to listen to the distinguishing sounds of the vowels: /ē/ and the long vowel (SRO sound) for /ī/. Charity believes the more you practice and recite the Roman Orthography sounds, you will begin to decipher, and read and write fluently in the First Nations language.

Daily commands are important at home. Cree Language and Culture Facilitator, Charity Cooper articulates in Cree language and English of the basic commands that we all do within our homes; in our workplaces, as well as in our daily conversations. Charity strongly encourages you to listen carefully and reiterate the Roman Orthography word. This video also provides ideas for you to extend to your own community’s pronunciations.
