Class of 2013

“We are the future. Our dreams have no limits.”
As graduation season comes to a close, we want to acknowledge the Class of 2013 in all our FN schools, and share a few grad ceremony highlights from around the province.

Waiting to graduate from kindergarten.

Beginning with our youngest scholars, eight kindergarten graduates at Indian Springs School were excited (and antsy) to be the centre of attention during a lively afternoon celebration. Each one proudly accepted his or her diploma and happily moved into grade 1. Eight of their grade 4 counterparts successfully graduated into middle school. Awards were given out to many deserving students, with Principal Donovan Mann praising numerous young people who showed outstanding growth and achievement throughout the 2012/13 school year.

Peguis Central grade 12 grad.

Over at Peguis Central School, 25 students graduated from Grade 12. With the gym transformed and family and friends surrounding them, each graduate walked down a centre aisle to cheers and applause. As well, the audience was told what each student hoped to accomplish after high school. Two doctors, nurses, teachers, a writer, a carpenter, a chef were all in the plans for these remarkable students.

Isaac Beaulieu Memorial School boasted over 25 grade 12 graduates. Community member Eileen Roulette shared these inspiring words, “I can well imagine the struggles you must have known in reaching your goals. Growing up in our community is a daily challenge and I commend you for being strong in facing all the negative pressures that come with growing up. But through it all you learn to become stronger, more determined to make a better life for yourselves, and become role models for the coming generations.”

Beautiful grade 12 grad from IBMS.

These are just three highlights from our First Nations schools. But these kinds of accomplishments are happening all over Manitoba, and it’s so important to celebrate them. Our FN students are making huge strides. They refuse to be a statistic and are living out their dreams of a successful future. We can’t wait to see what that future holds for them.

Congratulations!!

Watch for our Class of 2013 photo album coming soon!
