Deaf & Hard of Hearing Services

Families

The Deaf and Hard of Hearing Facilitators are qualified Teachers of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing with Special Education certification to support all students. They are able to facilitate with school teams regarding:

  • Professional development for staff on hearing loss and implications
  • Communication needs of students and supports for learning
  • IEP planning and programming supports
  • Language development and curriculum adaptations
  • Classroom modifications and acoustics
  • Hearing amplification (Hearing aids, Cochlear implants, personal FM and classroom soundfield)
  • Technology (programs, apps, streamer devices for hearing aids)
  • Resources for Deaf and hard of hearing students in Manitoba
  • Classroom inservicing with peers
  • Liaison with parents, audiologists and social agencies for supports and transitioning in school and post-secondary education.
  • Facilitating ASL courses for staff, parents and communities throughout the year
