The MFNERC specialist staff attended a workshop in learning how to use the standard report card for Manitoba Provincial schools.
Topics included focusing on planning; using the subject categories; setting up the grade book for accuracy, meaning and consistency; developing categories for local course options – a framework review and; considering local options for learning behaviours. Throughout the day the participants took part in other exercises which included how to investigate curriculum through the categories and build consistencies in expectations at grade level and school level. They did team activities for planning and reviewing the opportunities for the MFNERC in partnership with the schools. This would include in instruction, yearly planning, unit planning, rubrics, quality criteria that could future developed with students and grading organized by categories and prioritizing.
Brenda Delorme, MFNERC Assessment Program Manager, has facilitated three sessions with school staff learning more about the report card, and will also be introducing this workshop in regional conferences.
