Connecting Communities
Here at MFNERC we are always looking for new ways to reach people and spread the word about First Nations education in Manitoba, and other issues affecting Indigenous peoples across the country. Our website and printed materials offer much in the way of the written word, but we know that the human voice can connect with people in ways that reading and writing sometimes cannot. To this end, we decided to create a podcast channel.
Every month we invite a guest to our studio to chat about their work and how it relates to Indigenous education, culture, news and/or other issues of the day. Our goal is for it to become a go-to resource for educators and learners of all ages. A place for sharing thoughts, meeting new people, and learning new ideas.
To date we have recorded seven episodes on such topics as Ancestral Education Systems; Suicide Prevention; and Cultural Literacy, and have welcomed guests including APTN news anchor, Michael Hutchinson; Elder Victor Harper; and MP for Winnipeg Centre, Dr. Robert-Falcon Ouellette (pictured below). We are always looking for new guests and topics. If you have an idea please email info@mfnerc.com and be sure to tune in at thunderradio.mfnerc.
