Pride Month

June is celebrated as Pride Month by millions of LGBTQ2S+ people and their allies worldwide. It is a time to honour the history of the June 28, 1969 Stonewall Uprising in New York, which saw protests and violence that pushed forward the gay rights movement. We stand beside the LGBTQ2S+ community and remember those who’ve led the way in creating a more respectful, diverse, and equal place for all of us.

Fun fact: The term “Two-Spirit” originated in Winnipeg, Canada in 1990 during the third annual intertribal Native American/First Nations gay and lesbian conference. It comes from the Ojibwa words niizh manitoag (two-spirits). (Source: https://buff.ly/3g2suHQ)
