As you may be aware, the Research and Development Team of MFNERC has drafted a First Nations Curriculum Framework (FNCF) based on feedback gathered from the MFNERC Staff Working Group Sessions, conference participants, and from regional gatherings held during the 2016-2017 school year.
For the period of August 2017- March 2018, the R & D Team will be hosting the FNCF- CD Focus Group sessions as part of the framework development process. At these sessions, the Research Facilitators from R & D will facilitate the curriculum development process with the selected focus group participants representing each of the language groups.
The 3-day FNCF – CDFG sessions will be held four times from August 2017 until March 2018 in Winnipeg and will take place between: Please note additional days may be required.

We are requesting First Nations to nominate a Language Educator and Elder for the upcoming 2017 – 2018 FNCF: Curriculum Development Focus Group Sessions.
The selected community representatives will be based on the following criteria:
- An experienced educator (i.e. classroom/language teacher)
- An Elder i.e. retired educator
- Fluent and literate in one of First Nation languages
- Able to participate and contribute to 3-day FNCF – Curriculum Development Focus Group sessions scheduled during the school year in Winnipeg
