This year’s First Nations Circle of Knowledge & Practices Conference will focus on Indigenous knowledge in scientific and technical fields: What do they consist of? How do they impact our teaching methodologies: How are they reflected in programming and curriculum?
Indigenous knowledge is expansive and fluid. Science and technology are vast and creative fields from which all areas of education take inspiration. Promoting and sharing this knowledge for the benefit of First Nations students can and will stimulate creative thinking and motivation for individual learning, community growth and wellness.
Traditionally, First Nations peoples understood science and had technology to not only survive but to thrive. More so than ever in the 21st Century—whether it is using technology for communication, math or literacy learning or practicing traditional research methods—Indigenous knowledge in science and technology is helping First Nations to explore and understand the world.
