“Walking Softly Toward the Future” A regional education conference at Chief Clifford Lynxleg Anishinabe School.
Chief Clifford Lynxleg Anishinabe School (CCLAS), along with MFNERC, is hosting an educational regional conference March 4 & 5, 2015 at Tootinaowaziibeeng Treaty Reserve (TTR). The theme, Walking Softly Toward the Future, is the overall focus for the two day event. Workshop presentations will focus on:
First Nation traditional approaches of teaching;
How to develop a local land-based program when there are no land users available;
Cross-curricular planning and program development;
Early years and introduction of identity, language and culture;
Approaches for healthy living through community engagement;
Approaches for developing instructional games that teach traditional teachings;
Teacher wellness and self-care;
Practical approaches for student esteem building;
Assessing traditional knowledge, language and identity strategies;
Non- Violent Intervention.
Participants who attend the educational regional will be provided with useful and tangible approaches that can be implemented into classrooms immediately and with ease.
