The Private Home Placement (PHP) program makes it possible for First Nations students in Manitoba who do not have access to a complete high school program or specific academic and/or vocational courses of study, to complete their secondary education.
The PHP program is currently seeking caring individuals or families that have room in their home to welcome a student or students to board for the 2018-2019 school year. Locations where homes are needed are:
East-Kildonan, Transcona area of Winnipeg (close to Miles Macdonell School)
We are pursuing individuals who will take an active role in the student’s life by encouraging him/her to attend school every day, ensure that he/she does homework every day, encouraging him/her to get involved in school sports, activities and/or cultural programs.
Houseparent(s) will be required to fill out a criminal record check as well as a child abuse registry check (cost which will be reimbursed). House parents will receive a payment for room and board at the beginning of each month. The payment for the Thompson area is $800/month. For the amount of payment for the Winnipeg area please see the contact information below.
If you are interested in becoming a PHP houseparent please contact Misty Bear, PHP Counselor at 204-594-1290 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
