MFNSS Province-Wide Basketball Tournament

This year’s MFNSS Basketball Tournament saw 160 participants and volunteers. Ten teams representing eight MFNSS schools attended, the farthest school coming in from York Landing.

MFNERC sends copies of “Little Tree” by Cree author Natashia Moodie to all affiliated First Nations schools.

Little Tree is a children’s book that talks about the importance of taking care of the earth, water, and taking immediate action to reduce the effects of climate change.

Community Working-Groups Meet with MFNERC to Complete Land-Based Curriculum

MFNERC’s Research & Development (R&D) team recently held a working-group meeting with community members from Manitoba First Nations to finish a land-based curriculum due to come out in 2020. Reconnecting with the Land – 10th Annual Land-Based Youth Education Gathering

We teach youth the importance of making and participating in events our people used to do prior to colonization. This event focuses on making educational knowledge fun and will provide fellowship with other First Nations. This event marks the 10th Annual Land-Based Education Gathering held to date in partnership with the Manitoba First Nations Education Resource Centre. We will be holding a celebration ceremony to acknowledge all your participation and knowledge!

Research & Development Team Creating Potential Partnership in Educational Programming with the Manitoba Museum

In December 2019, MFNERC’s Research and Development (R&D) team met with staff from the Manitoba Museum to discuss potential education partnerships projects. This meeting was held at the Manitoba Museum and included a personalized tour led by Dr. Maureen Matthews, Rachel Erickson, Rob Gendron, and Nancy Anderson.
